Health and wealth have been a concern in social settings in the last couple of decades. In
this regard, an apparent disparity lies between those that can afford quality health care and those
that cannot. Notably, less fortunate people have suffered from lack or limited quality health care
in society for a long time. For instance, two years ago, my grandfather was very ill and our
family could not afford quality health services which was out of our reach. Such instances are the
reasons where the government should design a universal or affordable health care services for all
the citizens. While the government has done a lot for all people to access affordable medical
services in the UK and the United States, there is still an apparent disparity in socioeconomic
classes regarding the accessibility of health services.

Inequality in society is undoubtedly associated with the access to health case and the
outcome of wellness of an individual. Consequently, low income is directly correlated to poor
health, increased criminal activities, and high rates of mortality (Saplosky, 2018). Notably, this is
because low income individuals often live in poor conditions where in most cases they lack food
and proper diet. Accordingly, some of them indulge in alcohol and substance abuse which in
return leads to deterioration of their health (Saplosky, 2018). Moreover, poverty can sometimes
lead to mental problems such as anxiety. Therefore, health is a huge barrier to the overall
wellbeing of an individual in society.
